A Few Tidbits of this Quiet Summer

 We're still in full lockdown :( so we haven't done much other than continue to chip away at school work but here are a few tidbits from our recent life:

Aiden's watermelon plant actually produced watermelons and we got all excited... but along came some aphids and killed the plant before the melons were of a useable size. But to our surprise, the insides were already ripe, though hardly more than a mini taste!

You just never know what you might find in our hallways that are open to the outdoors... moths, rain bugs, fruit bats, baby sparrows...this is an oleander hawk moth. 

As we can't actually get out much - only for necessary trips and short exercise times - and now that we have an excellent camera... we're even more taken with the sky and the endless variety of spectacular scenes we can watch unfold from our balcony. Or while on our permitted evening walk for exercise, as the case may be.

This rainbow showed up the day after we'd seen a tiny slice of one and wondered to each other why it was so rare to see a bright one or a full one - very bright, mostly doubled, and the full arc!

Aiden probably gets the most exercise of all of us as he is still small enough to really jump on our mini trampoline and swing off the chin up bar we have. but we never would have guessed that it would be enough for him to fall asleep during the day, but it has happened twice in the last month! Both times while reading, so may be it has more to do with the heavy duty task of reading?

Mom's latest extra summer thing to do is learn a few more braiding hairstyles... or make up something of her own.  Not many survive the day, but no matter as we're the only ones to see that happen :)

We've had a lot of rain recently. Sometimes furiously enough to flood streets and cause the trickle of a waterfall behind our complex to become a roaring torrent. Another thing it brings is opportunities to check out the local toad population - we've found quite a few on our evening walks.
