Yet More Poems From Daughter Poets: Jasmin

Just a Normal Girl Was I
Just a normal girl was I
Until I reached for the sky

Just a little hope
Just a little wish
Just a little dream
Be careful what you wish for, little girl of the north

She reached for the sky
Her hands longing to fly
So up she went
To the sky she so longed for

But down she crashed
With fire and remorse
Into the forest she crashed
A consequence for wishing for what was not hers

But second chances were given
And life sprung forth
Her and her sister, now set forth
Lives were changed
Choices made,
All in one action

Wounded and crushed, she reached for the sky
Still, hoping to fly
One touch of the hand
One sacrifice to be made
One dream fulfilled

Out sprang forth the wings so longed for
Up sprang her to the high blue sky
Far spread wings
Freedom at last
To fly far and free
With joyful camaraderie

I, with wings the colour of snow
I am Winter, if you must know

Come Join Me In Adventure

Come join me in adventure!
Son take up your sword,
Together we'll travel,
Over mountain and more.

Come join me in adventure!
We'll leave behind the bore.
Instead take up your pack
and hit the road once more.

Come join me in adventure!
what will you do instead?
Stay here in comfort
 To rot in bed?

Come join me in adventure!
saddle up your horse
Race the sun to the east
Without regret or remorse.

Come join me in adventure!
I hear there are dragons in the north.
Maybe we'll get to see some
And fight the rising force.

Come join me in adventure!
No, don't shake your head.
this will be fun!
It's better than staying at home instead.

Come join me in adventure!
O, won't you please come with me?
It'll be lonely without you
And you know what mother said.

Come join me in adventure!
We'll ride into the dawn
And push past to the unknown,
To a place where no man has known.

Come join me in adventure!
I know we will be fine,
I have you by my side,
My partner in crime;
We'll be the unstoppable team
We'll be remembered throughout all time,
We'll be heroes!
Just my brother and I

A Single Teardrop

From an ocean of purest green
Came a gem of truest dreams
Pools of emerald green swirl and dance
With unknown pasts
they glisten in the light,
A beauty in fright
Lime green splash and play
Forset deep mixes of frosted sleep.
The colours of deepest jade,
Come forth from pools of fern
A silver sheen
A glint of blue
roll down thy cheek.
Seas crush and whisper trapped in
walls of Sacramento glass
For only a moment
A glimpsed world of green
then it was gone
Only a single tear drop.

Yet More Poems From Daughter Poets: Grace

Wonder
Wonder
A meaningful silence
The gravity of joyful reunion
The promise for life, renewed once more
Witnessing with deep great joy
Two become one
Bursting

Bursting
Welling with emotion
Struggling to keep it together
Wrestling with overwrought, overwhelming joy of awe
On single tear escapes grasp
Proclaiming inward joy
Awestruck

Awestruck
Joy of suffering
Strength made perfect in weakness
Emulating heroes, the giants of the faith
Strong and faithful through trials
Just like Jesus
Wonder

Lost
Lost
Willing wayward
Choosing selfish pathways
Delighting in the world
Morals chosen from hand-picked truth
Hurting others in favor of self
But none of this leads to satisfaction
What point is there in this twisted way?
Going searching for an adequate answer, finding only bondage
But a voice cries: "One Way, One Truth, One Life!"
The difference from all the others is this: He died.
The skeptics say you must give up freedom
Freedom's never free; you're always serving something
Choose a good Master who cares
Choose a loving Savior
Choose the Resurrection
Choose God
Jesus

Questions From a Six-Year Old
Where is the space between sea and the sky?
Does it reach forever to kiss heavens high?
Why doesn't it come to me when I must hide?
Where is the space between sea and the sky?

There is the line between Heaven and Earth
Stretching its arms around our world's great girth
No need to hide, child, for I know your worth
Horizon, the line now gone bordering Earth

Why won't the moonlight come over the rise?
How come King Solomon dreamed, and was wise?
Will anyone see me if I close my eyes?
Why won't the starlight come over the rise?

Hills cast the shadows that make the sky dark
God gave him wisdom, and now it's his mark
I still see you outlined in firelight sparks
The hill blocks the starlight and makes it seem dark

How does the mommy bird hatch her white eggs?
Why was I made with two long skinny legs?
When God made creation, did He make my pegs?
How does the mommy bird hatch her white eggs?

The mother bird may be a stork or a lark
Your legs aren't skinny, they're thick like tree bark
When God made the world, He made wood for your pegs
The mommy bird hatches by sitting on eggs

A King Such As This
On a mountaintop plateau
Removed from all distractions
Stood a town
A small city
Unimportant importance

On the edge of the city
A shepherd boy watched
His sheep flock
Ewes, rams, lambs
Relevant irrelevance

He sat and watched the day go by
Eyes tracing the well-worn path
To the city
The ancient city
Famed and despised

Suddenly
Dust from the distance
Coming up the trail
The empty road
Occupied by one
Approaching fast

A courier crests the hilltop
Covered in sweat and dust
Feet cut and bloody
He ran nonstop
To deliver his message

Seeing the young shepherd
He comes panting to a stop and cries,
"He is coming!
Prepare the way!"
Forerunner of the future

The city turns out to greet him
The dusty road swept clean
Standing at the roadside
Waiting for him
Expectant expectation

Who is this man who comes?
A warrior set for battle?
Liberator of enslaved?
Royal resplendent king?
Why does he come?

Waiting continues as sun rises high
The shepherd boy strains to catch a glimpse
Expecting a king
A royal king
Carried in a litter

A shout arises from the front
The awaited one approaches
Not with wealth
Not with power
No entourage before him
No servants left behind him

One man comes up the mountainside
Walking in dust-covered sandals
An ordinary man
Just like anyone,
The shepherd boy thinks

Is this the one we've waited for?
The one whom the courier cried:
"Prepare the way!
He is coming!"
Surely it can't be?

We wanted a victorious warrior
We needed a reigning lord
Who would've ever thought
He would come
Poor and ordinary?
Who would've known him
A King such as this?

I, Larkwing
I grew up on a mountain
Hiding in seclusion
Remote, I lived in safety
But it was just illusion

For on my thirteenth birthday
The day I came of age
I made my cape Remembrance
And life threw me onstage

A flight, a shot, a loud cry
My life was broke in two
My parents fell to hunters
And thus away I flew

One single word was left me
My mother told me, "Flee!"
But I don't know where to go
I think I'll head for sea

I fled from human hunters
The ones who, in my mind
Had murdered both my parents
And sought to kill my kind

But in my haste, I missed it
And crashed into a rock
I fell to earth, despairing
My head now throbbing shock

I then was taken captive
By one who saw a child
Orphaned, ripped from parents
Instead of Larkwing wild

But greed o'ertook his kindness
He tried to steal my cloak
I flew, escaped from darkness
My heart, once trusting, broke

And now I head for Larkhold
The stronghold of my kind
My name's Aqie the Larkwing
The Fugitive of the Sky

It's Been a Poetic Weekend....Week....Month... Season?

Even Though He Slay Me

Even though He slay me
I will praise Him still
Even though He slay me
I will with praises fill
The air around the Temple
The song before the throne
Even though He slay me
I'll bow to Him alone

It Was Only Three Days

It was only three days
Before He rose again
It was only three days
A moment from a pen
But before the end was written
Known to you and me
Those three short fleeting days
Seemed like eternity

The Son of God, Messiah
Betrayed and left to die
Drawn up upon Golgotha
He gave his final cry
Then slain by unjust rulers
They took Him off the tree
And buried Him in silence
All hint of hope to flee

What must His twelve friends think
Now that their hope is dashed?
Their dreams of reigning Savior
Empty, dead, and cracked?
Depressed, disheartened, downcast
But don't lose hope, my friend
It was only three short days
Before God rose again

Christ the Lord Is Coming (Signs of the End)

The sky is broken and shattered like glass
The earth, though awake, is asleep to the past
Don't miss the signs that are coming to pass
Christ the Lord is coming

The lords have been tested and found to be false
The 'Christs' are deceivers and they are at fault
Leading astray many saints, true and false
Christ the Lord is coming

The news will be full of the rumours of war
The wars will be many, as never before
Do not be alarmed, because there is yet more
Christ the Lord is coming

The saints will be martyred and put to the test
And many will leave the faith, hating the rest
Betrayals by fathers and sons of the best
Christ the Lord is coming

The love of the world will grow wicked and cold
The Gospel's true message to all the world told
Yet many will fall to deceivers of old
Christ the Lord is coming

The Temple's pure courtyard profaned by a Thing
Abominate, desolate, desecrating
O Israel, flee to the mountainous string
Christ the Lord is coming

The sun will be darkened, the moon won't give light
The stars will be shaken and fall from the sky
The sign of the Son of Man coming in might
Christ the Lord is coming
Christ the Lord is coming!

Before I Made You

Even before I made you
I knew You'd go astray
Yet in my loving-kindness
I made you anyway

I blessed you with great blessings
I gave you fruitful lands
I promised your descendants
Will count as more than sand

But you have spurned my blessings
And broken all my laws
And turned to worship idols
With empty gaping maws

So I have sent destruction
Just as I foretold
Your glory will be vapour
As enemies grow bold

Don't say I didn't warn you
I've told you many times
You only made your hearts hard
And still you cross the line

To exile you have gone now
To pay for all your sins
But if you still repent now
I'll return you to your kin

I've refined you in the fire
And burned your dross away
Walk through the darkest valley
Come out to glorious day

Out of the Ashes Comes New Life
Out of the ashes comes new life

Wide bleak grey fields
Darkened skies
Ashy turmoil
Echoes of plight

Out of the ashes comes new life
An ember still burns
Hidden beneath
Never forget
Our past glory

Out of the ashes comes new life
We were a people of glory and light
Until we fell
Into sin and shame
Remember my people, the light

Out of the ashes comes new life
Taken captive for our not right
Chains and tears
Remorse and Fears
Slaves until the dawn

Out of the ashes comes new life
Repent! Repent! People of the light
Recant your ways
Turn from the haze
The dawn is soon coming

Out of the ashes comes new life
Free finally from our strife
Onward home
Horizon born
To rebuild our broken home

Out of the ashes comes new life
 Wide bleak grey fields
Broken Zeal
Glimmering light
Don't lose hope my people, we will return to the light

Out of the ashes comes new life
Rebuild those walls!
Under scorn
Open blade
Don't stop building till the dawn comes

Out of the ashes comes new life
Neighbours threaten, strike
52 days
Surprise! Daze
We are safe for another day

Out of the ashes comes new life
Praise the King!
Restored glory
Renewed story
Refined gold through the fire

Out of the ashes comes new life

Based on the story of rebuilding Jerusalem's walls in Nehemiah.

Who Do You See?
Who do you see when you look at me?

Do you see the broken and battered person within?

Do you see the shadows and the scars?
The monster's jaws?

Do you see a place of utter darkness,
No glimmer of hope?

Or do you see
The small shimmer of a whole,
The last light of weakening hope?

Do you see
A broken person of light,
Browning in suffering and plight?

Under scars and lies
Bound by chains of the soul

Behind walls so great and tall
No light can breach its stones

Far beneath the darkness of despair
Suffocating in forgotten dreams,
Lies a waste in the pit of doom

Who do you see when you look at me?

Do you see
A strong and mighty tower
Fallen under a greater power?

Do you see
A once-glorious kingdom
Now ashes at your feet?

A long-forgotten joy?

A beautiful painting
Marred by years of ageing

A once-blooming flower,
Wilted under winter's mighty power?

Or do you see
Shattered and broken pieces,
 Awaiting new shape?

Do you see
Building blocks of a tower
Torn down to build another greater than the other?

A beach full of treasures of the sea
Waiting for hands to see their beauty

A key locked in a box,
Wating for the hammer?

Jars of coloured ink?
Patiently awaiting to take part in drawing life into the fire?

Who do you see when you look at me?

Do you see my highs and lows?
My faults and blows?

Do you see
Fields of flowers
Painting memories over the ground?

Mountains torn down,
Mourning in the ground?

Do you see my desperate cry?
My hoarse shout for help?
The torrents of rain,
Drowning out my crown?

Or do you see...

An old peaceful garden,
Full of past camaraderie?

A battlefield overgrown in flowers?

The quiet hush of an undisturbed forest?

The final resting place of one so great?

Do you see
A seasoned warrior
Lying upon the ground
Waiting for a peaceful death?

Who do you see when you look at me?

"I am that, and more."

Who Would Dare

Who would dare approach the LORD
Alone, out of his own accord?
To step into the holy place
And look upon the Father's face?

To enter through the Temple's door
To sacrifice a dove or more
Yet dare to look for cherubim
Still caring the throne of Him

The Holy One of Abraham
Who promised him the gift of land
The One, who if our unclean eyes
Could see His holiness, we'd die

For Moses only saw His back
And ever since, he never lacked
Reflected glory on his face
That terrified the Hebrew race

Who would dare approach the LORD
Alone, out of his own accord?
To dare to brave the Maker's wrath
And not survive the aftermath?

When David took the holy ark
To Jerusalem, it left its mark
By striking Doreen the one who touched
The ark - and scared King David much

Who, then, would dare approach the LORD
Alone, out of his own accord?
To try to know the greatest God
The One who made the earth we trod?

When Israel took the ark to war
It was captured, to their vast horror
The Philistines took it to Ashdod
And brought the ark to their false god

But Dagon couldn't resist the LORD
His statue broke off its own accord
It knelt before the greater God
While tumors struck the men of Ashdod

Who would dare approach the LORD
Alone, out of his own accord?
I dare, because Jesus once died
To cover my sins with one sacrifice

Daughter Poet

Before the silver rocks and golden hills
Are slain by grey - the shadow of evil
Please follow me into the brighter day
And take up arms, the ancient darkness slay

Take up your sword, the blade of truth to wield
And from on high, the gift of faith, your shield
Put on your breastplate, clothed in righteousness
Put shoes and belt and helmet to the test

Now take your stand against the evil dark
Come see the line 'twixt good and evil stark
Now listen to the mighty battle call
And charge with joy: "Our God is Lord of All!"

And when the battle has been fought and won
Come kneel and bow before the Christ, God's Son
And lay your battle trophies at His feet
Come taste the joy of Jesus' true love sweet

The Forgotten City

The wind blows through the mountains
It rustles dry leaves
It runs o'er dry fountains
It finds stones bereaved

Wind whistles through columns
And wails over stone
Now mourning its passing through
Valley of bone

It rises above the past
Crumbled and gone
But in the old carvings
The story lives on

Once
There was a city here
Once
Our people thrived
Once
Our fame went far and near
But then
Our people died...

A lone hawk flies over
The desolate place
A speck in the sky that is
Gone without trace

The silence hangs o'er it all
Heavy, complete
No rustle of movement
Or lost lamb's lone bleat

The lone hawk returns now
But now with his mate
They circle together
With patience they wait

Once
I lived in great estate
Once
I was a queen
Once
The golden land was great
But now
It lies unseen...

The shepherd girl climbs through
The broken, worn path
She finds the dead ruins
Now empty of wrath

The only one living
Who knows of this place
She silently mourns for them
Covers her face

The hawks toll a death song
The wind wails a tune
The shepherd stands o'er
The stone grave for the doomed

But then
The judgement came to us
Then
With grief we groaned
Where once
The Golden City was
Now
A place of stone...

The wind blows through the mountains
It whistles through stone
Lost City of Glory
Forgotten, alone

Two Minute Tuesday - active

Active, active, active, active! You are active!

Take that out you are so active! Why are you here? At a waiting game; you can't even wait. Are you doing anything but waiting? Wow, running around like an antelope!! What you are doing is something that none else could do!
Active! We need to stay active while we’re all cooped up in our houses.
To stay active instead of lazing around and DO SOMETHING.
If you do something active while you're stuck at home you’ll actually get better
sleep and wake up feeling more refreshed than if you do nothing all day then go
to sleep. How to do something active? 50 JUMPING JACKS! GO! Or such things
    like that.

    • Active Activity Running, jumping leaping Out in the great big open Exulting in movement Running to touch the sky Active Awake Bouncing, asking, moving Never sitting still Never losing energy Maybe it’s Aiden Active Activate Powering, charging, awaking Opening the unknown machine Awaking the long-dead monster Lighting up the sky
