Birthday Day

We spent the afternoon at Petrie Island in the sun, sand, and sea (well, the river).  The girls had a great time with Daddy:

While Mommy looked on longingly and Aiden slept peacefully in the dappled sunlight. 


















Then we went home for the birthday supper of the requested shepherd's pie, cake and ice cream.  Jasmin did a great job of cutting and helping to serve the cake, despite its crumbly qualities as a gluten, egg, and dairy-free cake!

 And finally the long-awaited gifts!

A recorder - hopefully she'll be quick to become musical on it :o)

Aiden (Little Fire) Timothy (God's Honour) Hu was born on June 7, 2012 at 10:42am, weighing 8 pounds 13 ounces, more than two pounds heavier at birth than his older sisters!

 Labour was 9 hours, with the last two being hard (he needed to be turned manually).  Mother and baby got through fine, with mom's pelvis being pretty sore - as in she could hardly walk to start with!

 

 

Grace and Jasmin were thrilled to meet their new brother! And suddenly we seemed to be back into the toddler stage: "Why?" filling the air!  But these were much more sophisticated whys!  

 

 

 

 

 

 

So it was much appreciated when the nurse checking Aiden was kind enough to let Grace and Jasmin have a listen to his heart, and explain a few things to them.

Aiden and Mommy had a four day hospital stay instead of the usual in-and-out policy because Aiden was anemic and they wanted to find out why.  Ironically, his counts went up on their own and the tests clotted so the reason was never discovered!

Clearing the Decks

Hu3 is definitely coming soon now.  On and off contractions for the last few days.  But now we are ready: at least two big projects are off our plate, we have picked up the necessary baby paraphernalia we are borrowing from friends, child care plans are in place, we've met the Ob-Gyn and are officially "in the system," and a bag is packed for the hospital!  We're ready for you to be born now, Hu3....
