Tea Party for 14

The girls waiting for the tardy boys :)

Jasmin's 14th Birthday! Grace put together a treasure hunt that lead to a "tea party at the Earl of Grey's summerhouse." With not much else we can do, treasure hunts are a great way to make the day special and are good fun to make and solve.

The food was a wide spread, attempting to emulate our favorite Winter Warmers restaurant afternoon tea. So there was lots of tea (Earl Grey for Jasmin, of course!), scones and cream, and pastries. And then we deviated from the usual and had grilled cheese and shepherd's pie as requested. We were almost too full for the blackberry cheesecake!

Fitting the theme, Jasmin got four different kinds of loose tea, a Chinese tea set, and a large comfy tea mug. She was quite pleased. The big red bag is supposed to be Earl Grey tea - and we hope it is so! But the packaging says Kungfu tea, so we might be discovering yet another kind of tea. You can see she is quite taken with her mug!

And a bonus two photos of local wildlife. We've been going out for an evening walk together as often as we can during this lockdown, which is the only form of outdoor exercise allowed that we can do (mom is still in a air boot cast). Jasmin caught and gave to Aiden a not-quite-grasshopper-looking creature that accompanied us up the hill before jump-flying off.
The other photo is a fruit bat Mom surprised in the hallway. It felt quite safe from her and hung there wiggling its ears at her. Quite a cute encounter that a photo does no justice at all. We often see bats flying in the halls at night, but this was a first to see more than a silent swift blur flying by.
