Nothing quite went as planned or hoped
Not able to truly focus on Christmas until yesterday
Sickness of different kinds in the house
Delaying birthday celebrations for Dad
Putting on hold regular household routines
Throwing out all but the essentials
Even the special church lunch
And the evening supper team celebrations
So very muted and only half attended
So Christmas break begins today for us
We're done the intense week
Energy and life is slowly returning after sickness
The wall is full of our advent musings
O Come, O come Emmanuel
This morning a market breakfast for all
Chicken porridge, chicken rice, koey teow soup, roti and dahl
Sesame balls, ice lime or milo drinks
Groceries bought for the week
The fridge stuffed with extras
This afternoon was planned a swim or a trip to the small water playground
But instead we stay home for a game of Catan
And Dad finally gets his birthday gifts
An attempt at homemade eggnog
(that tasted good, but nothing like eggnog!)
And evening full of last minute jobs
Preparing for church and beach day Christmas
Finishing present projects
Sleeping off final sickness (we hope)
